In Your Pain is Your Answer

I have been to Albuquerque, Tucson, New York, and Sacramento in the last couple of weeks and have met so many of you.

I have heard so many of your stories, where the pain of something that happened to you propelled you to dream a bigger dream and take action.

I say, “In your pain is your answer”, because life is a puzzle that reveals itself slowly and sometimes those painful moments (if we allow them) guide us to where we need to go and often to what business we need to do.

Today, I bring you the story of Angie Henry from San Diego. Angie has her own brokerage firm, New Palace Realty. As a child, living in a very small house with many siblings where no one had a bed or a desk, she vowed to have her own home someday, where her children could have a bed and a desk.

Since meeting Angie, she has been to our Adelante events partnered with NAHREP (National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals) for over two years. In that time, Angie went from being a real estate agent to owning her own brokerage firm with six agents under her.

The Coca-Cola Company, through their 5by20 Global Initiative to empower 5 Million women by the year 2020, has chosen to showcase Angie’s story worldwide. If she can do it, you can too!

The most important place to begin our empowerment journey, and begin to look for answers to financially free ourselves and become self-reliant, is through local and national non-profit organizations. These organizations will connect you in your cities and will create a community for you in the areas you are interested in.

This month, Adelante worked with LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens)in Albuquerque, The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Tucson, ‎The Adelante group at JP Morgan Chase, and NAHREP in Sacramento.

This is a good place to start. What are you interested in, and what are the groups that serve your interests? Are they women’s organizations, professional organizations, advocacy groups, or Chambers of Commerce?
