Celebrating the One and Only, Rosie Rios

Nothing makes me prouder than the prospect of Latina women making real strides, leaving their mark and demonstrating the power of growth – which is why this week I honor one of the great women we all need to know: U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios

On Monday, I had the pleasure of attending Rosie’s farewell and awards ceremony in Washington D.C. After eight years of serving as the 43rd treasurer of the United States, Rosie is ready to move on to the next chapter of her life and career. Besides being one of our most supportive Adelante Movement mentors from day one, as treasurer Rosie was famous for leading the efforts to place a woman on U.S. currency for the first time in over a century! Believe it or not, she is the only Latina whose painted portrait hangs in Harvard University, her alma mater.

This is a woman who embodies everything for which the Adelante Movement stands: self-reliance, leadership, legacy, ambition, innovation and pure moxie. For all these things and more, we salute the brilliant Rosie Rios, and wish her nothing but the best as she moves forward on her journey.

In the spirit of celebrating this remarkable woman whom we are lucky to also call our friend, here’s a bit of Rosie Rios inspiration for the day!
